Measure before estimating
Read your current speed, time a short interval, and subtract the starting value from the ending value. Enter that observed gain and the interval in seconds. Use a period for decimal values.
How the estimate works
Measured rate = observed gain ÷ measurement seconds. Remaining progress = target − current speed, with a minimum of zero. Estimated seconds = remaining progress ÷ measured rate.
A worked example
Example only: current 100, target 1000, observed gain 60 over 30 seconds. The measured rate is 2 per second; 900 remaining takes an estimated 450 seconds, or 7 minutes 30 seconds.
When to measure again
A changed boost, reset, device performance or way of playing can change your observed rate. Take a new measurement rather than treating the estimate as a promise.
